1952 TOPPS Reprint Set

Print Run: 10,000

In 1983, Topps introduced the 1952 Topps Reprint Set.  It was available to hobby dealers in cases of 24 sets or directly to collectors through mail order.  The set box design launched the Topps Tiffany franchise.  It is a solid color, with a unique border design, and the classic gold foil seal.

The reprint cards differentiated from the original by being printed on white card stock with a high-gloss coating, smaller 2 1/2" X 3 1/2" standard-size, and each card is marked "TOPPS 1952 REPRINT SERIES" on the back. It is believed that only 10,000 sets were printed.

The set contained 402 of the original 407 cards.  Topps was unable to obtain permission from 5 players or their families to print their cards.  The 5 players are #20 Billy Loes, #22 Dom DiMaggio, #159 Saul Rogovin, #196 Solly Hemus and #289 Tommy Holmes.  The bottom of the set contains a checklist of all the cards in the set.  The 5 missing cards are indicated with **.

This set contains reprints of some of the most important cards to the baseball card hobby.  They include Mickey Mantle, Willie Mays, Jackie Robinson, and Eddie Mathews.
