The trimming scandal has now moved to pre-war candy cards in addition to pre-war tobacco. This E95 Mathewson card has been cleaned, which is a topic of debate in the pre-war community. However, it is clear whatever chemicals were used to clean this card bleached the print on the back, as is demonstrated in the word "Camden" in the third photo. Also, thanks to the tipster who led me to this card.
Green circles are common print flaws or paper fibers that demonstrate the cards are the same. The blue circle in the third, detailed photo shows how the back was altered in an attempt to remove a stray mark.
