A trim of the top edge of this 1954 NY Journal American Mantle card turned a SGC 5 into a PSA 8 (see pink boxes). This is one of the precious few vintage baseball sets with a serial number (these were newspaper contest cards), so you can see that matching number 351347 on both Mantles. Please note that VCP dropped the ball on this one and did not record the sale of the SGC 5, so we do not know who purchased the "before" card. However, it was graded with cards that were first sold through PWCC and Mile High.
