I have circled the points of reference on the backs that identify them as being the same card. There is also several points of reference on the fronts. I don't see any changes on the back and the card does not appear to be trimmed. The alteration has occured on the front and this is the first time I have found a card that has been altered in this way. The scratch in the red areas appear to have been blended with added color. They couldn't do it to the gold due to the unique features of metallic ink. If they attempted to fill in the scratch or touch the white borders the areas of color overlap would get very dark making it obvious. This is not "conservation". The scanned image on the left is a higher resolution than the right.
